February 2025 – Sydney HR Market Review

A few charts for you to review. The first chart is obviously very flat, and it is true that that February did not build on the momentum built up in January. (Spoiler alert that may change by the time I share the March data).

Observations within the data. Permanent vacancies are growing more quickly than interim, which continues to be subdued. As always, the mid-level is stronger than the senior market. That said there is some growth in the $150K - $200K bracket. There is a general feeling that 2025 is like 2024 which was generally considered to be a slower market for HR vacancies. However, month on month data comparisons show 2025 higher than 2024 in almost all specialisms and I would expect that trend to continue.

Part of the resilience of the HR profession it’s sector diversification in Sydney. Last month Healthcare was the largest hiring industry in Sydney, but nine different industry sectors took for a market share of over 9%!

*Data covers $120,000 to $300,000 level roles in Sydney.
